The role of the school Governor is demanding but very rewarding and is a good way to give back to your local community.  School governing bodies are responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. Together with the Principals, who are responsible for day-to-day management, they set the school’s aims and policies.

The Regional Board operates as part of a broader framework of governance within the Trust and further details of this are available from the following link:

Annual reports and accounts for all Aspirations academies are available here:

The governance of Atlantic Academy is undertaken through the governance framework of the Aspirations Academies Trust. Local governance is through Aspirations’ South Coast Regional Board and therefore the Chair of the Regional Board, Mandy Lancy, is the Academy’s Chair of Governors.

We are pleased to announce that, following the recent parent governor election, Iona Smith has been successfully elected as our new Parent (Primary) Governor.

We would like to thank all the parents who participated in the vote, as well as those who expressed an interest in the role. We look forward to working with Iona as she brings valuable insights and perspectives to the board, representing the parent community.

Please join us in welcoming Iona to the governing body.

(From Iona Smith):  “I’m genuinely honoured to have been selected and I’m really looking forward to stepping into this role as Primary Parent Governor. I’m passionate about bringing the parent voice into school life and working together to create the best possible experience for our children. I can’t wait to meet more families and get involved.”

Parents: Have Your Say

We have a Parent Forum which meets six times a year. One of the objectives of the meeting is to actively seek the views of parents and ensure that these views are considered when planning and reviewing our educational provision.

As part of our strategy to seek parents’ views, we have created a feedback form on this website for you to have your say about what is going well and how our academy could improve. The feedback forms will be viewed by parent members of the Forum and your comments will be treated in confidence. Themes arising from feedback will be presented to both the Forum meetings and the District Governing Body meetings where appropriate.

We are working hard to deliver outstanding education for all of our pupils and very much welcome your views. Thank you.

Please support Atlantic Academy and “Have Your Say” by filling in our feedback form.
