At Atlantic Academy, our aim is to stimulate students’ imagination and creativity, to develop their knowledge and understanding of Drama techniques and skills and to provide a safe environment to explore sensitive issues, difficult emotions and gain an understanding of human behaviour and situations.  Our intent is to develop students to:

 

  • To provide a rigorous and varied curriculum that teaches skills and knowledge of theatre 
  • Develop an enthusiasm and appreciation for Drama and encourage their capacity to enjoy performances within society
  • To provide numerous opportunities to create, develop and evaluate
  • Stimulate the imagination and creativity of all students through devising and performing
  • Evaluate performances and develop critical analysis skills
  • Give students opportunities to explore, discuss and deal with difficult issues and to express their emotions in a supportive environment
  • Promote communication skills, teamwork, negotiation and leadership skills
  • Develop a greater understanding of human behaviour and empathy
  • Provide opportunities to develop public speaking
  • Be able to articulate and communicate ideas, opinions, and feelings about their own work and that of others
