Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

The Year 6 registration teachers are Miss Mills (6A) and Mrs Dale (6B). Miss Heppell will also be working with Year 6 each morning. Our learning support assistants are Mrs Sanderson and Mrs Russell.

This term our topic is “ID - Who do you think you are?” and is based on the Aspirations theme of belonging. We will be delving into what makes each of us unique both inside and out, from genetics and evolution in our Science work to our thoughts, morals and feelings in PSHE. Through art, we will be exploring portraiture and different methods of representing ourselves through a variety of media.

In English we will be studying the novel “The Goldfish Boy”, discussing and challenging what we understand by the term “normal” and how we fit into the society around us.

In Maths we will be developing and extending our knowledge of place value through reasoning problems and working on rounding numbers up to 10 million. Following this, we will be exploring different methods of multiplication and how to multiply decimal numbers.

We are looking forward to a fantastic half term and can’t wait to get started!

Year 6 had a great first half term, they have taken pictures of the things that they have been doing. Click here to view.
