Open evening 2017

Open Evening - Wednesday 27th September

Atlantic Academy held its first year six open evening on Wednesday 27th September. Potential new students and year six students at the academy already, were able to look around the academy. Parents were welcomed in reception by year 11 students, who took them over to the dining hall where teas and coffees’ had been laid out  whilst they wait for the evening to start. The evening kicked off with a speech from the headteacher (Mr Heap). Who welcomed the parents’ to the school before informing the parents’ about what the school has to offer.

The year 11 students escorted the parents and potential new students around to each of the subject areas. Whilst walking around the areas they were able to interact with the different displays that the subjects had going on. Within each of these areas students helped out the teachers by volunteering for subjects that they are passionate in. The students helped to answer questions about the school, as well as sharing the experiences that they have whilst being at the academy. This helped the parents and the children get a feel for what the school is like and also shows them different ways in which the teachers engage the students.

If you were unable to attend the opening evening and would like to look around the school. We currently have some action tours going on. The tours will take roughly an hour.
