"The study of geography is about more than just memorizing places on a map. It's about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it's about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together."
Barack Obama
INTENT
In Geography, our intent is for the curriculum to promote a curiosity about the world in which our students live. The curriculum will enable our students to be confident to understand and ask questions about the world around them. Whether students choose to continue studying Geography beyond Key Stage 3 or not, we want them to take a responsible attitude towards the world and adopt a lifelong interest in Geography. We will support our learners to develop skills that are transferable across all subjects and employment in later life, developing their knowledge to enable them to thrive in and beyond lessons. Our goal is for learners to leave Atlantic Academy with the ability to ‘think like a geographer’ and be inspired to continue the study of Geography Post-16.
