KS3 Year 7, 8 and 9 – Homework timetable

Year 7 and 8 comprises of 2 tasks each evening, totalling 60 minutes – Monday to Saturday.

Task 1 – Self Quizzing

Task 2a – Reading

2 times per week, as per above, students will have a 30 minute reading task to complete. Students will be reading their Accelerated Reader Programme book, or English Literature Book – Year 9. Students will write a minimum of half a page in their practice book each time, summarising what they have read answering specific questions, as seen below.

 

Each week you should choose at least two different questions.

You should spend between 5 and 10 minutes on your response, whilst still giving reasonable detail.

  1. What was this section about?

  2. What was the setting in this section?

  3. Based on this section, what do you predict will happen next and why?

  4. What is the main character of the story like?

  5. How did this section of the book/text make you feel and why?

  6. What questions do you have about this section of text?

  7. What is your favourite quotation from this section and why?

  8. What was the most important part of what you read and why?

  9. Does this text remind you of any other text? If so, what and how?

  10. What themes are being addressed in this section? How

Task 2b – Hegarty Maths

On Friday of each week students will be set 1 to 2 Maths tasks to complete on Hegarty Maths (www.hegartymaths.com) to be completed during the week.

 

Years 10 and 11 – Homework timetable

Year 10 to 11 comprises of 3 tasks each evening, totalling 2 hours – Monday to Friday. There will also be 6 weekly tasks set for other subjects, averaging an additional 4 hours of homework a week.

Task 1 – Self Quizzing

Tasks 2 & 3 – Notes, Exam Questions, Essays and Hegarty Maths (www.hegartymaths.com)

Each evening (in line with Subject Self-Quizzing – nearest lesson) students will be set by their subject teacher an additional two weekly tasks, from the selection above. This will be submitted to their subject teacher to be checked on the same day as it is set, but on the following week. This will consist of students spending 2 hour on these tasks. There will be a minimum number of Hegarty Maths tasks set by the subject teacher each week, but there will be rewards for students completing additional tasks beyond what is set for that week. They may enter our Hegarty Wall of Fame.
